Commonly Asked Questions

Q: Are you insured?

A: Yes, 100%.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: It depends on the size of the stump, type of wood, location and accessibility, number of stumps, amount of time.

Q: Can’t I just remove my own stump?

A: Calling in a professional can be cheaper than renting a stump grinder and doing the project yourself. Rental grinders are less reliable, take longer, and can easily be damaged.

Q: What kind of equipment is used?

A: Carlton SP 7015 66 HP Diesel Stump Grinder

Q: Is cleanup included?

A: This can be arranged at a cost. Some folks like to repurpose chips for mulch, I recommend letting me clean up the site. A surprising amount of chips and dirt are generated, even after a single stump grinding. I am able to bring a tractor and dump truck to remove all material.

Q: Can I buy only Vermont top soil and/or compost, without any stump grinding?

A: Absolutely, I offer delivery as well. This material is great when building lawns, gardens, and raised beds. No pesticides or fertilizers have been used.

Q: What is special about your compost?

A: My compost is made from materials sourced from central Vermont including cow and horse manure, woodchips, leaves, and potash. It is rich in nutrients, including nitrogen, which eliminates or decreases the need for fertilizers and promotes healthy plant growth.

testimonials

“I dont write reviews often, but Green Mtn Stump Grinding did such and exceptional job it is hard not to give Ryan a stellar review. We had a separate tree crew come and remove a huge pine tree to expand parking at our business. There was a stump about 3-4 feet in diameter and anything too large for the chipper was just left (the trunk of the tree and many large branches). Ryan came on short notice and went above and beyond for this job. He even came on a Saturday without being asked to avoid any interruptions with our parking/business. He cleaned up what the previous team just left in the way without hesitation, took care of another nearby tree that was dead to avoid it falling on parked cars, removed the massive root system, leveled/graded the soil and not a single woodchip or piece of sawdust was left on the ground. You can tell Ryan takes great pride in his work and I would not hesitate to hire him again when needed. 5 stars all the way!”

“Ryan was fantastic to work with. From start to finish he explained his services and various options, ending with ongoing maintenance. I wish I had ‘before’ pictures. Ryan ground more than 20 tree stumps of various sizes. He was meticulous. Both with his equipment and my land. We decided to not only grind the stumps but remove the wood chips (in some cases re-utilize), smooth the area where the stumps were, put down topsoil, seed, and cover with hay. He explained the importance of watering and even set up hoses and a large sprinkler. I highly recommend Ryan.”
